According to figures prepared by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, Turkey’s central administration gross debt was Turkish liras 1,641.2 billion (USD 239.6 billion) as of June 30th, 2020, an increase of 0.5% compared to the previous month in Turkish lira value.
This debt stock represents the outstanding debt of public sector institutions and the Central Bank. The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was TL 6.85 at the end of June 2020 and TL 6.81 at the end of May 2020.
Of the total gross debt stock, TL 822.8 billion (USD 120.1 billion), or 50.1%, was denominated in Turkish liras while TL 818.4 billion (USD 119.5 billion), or 49.9%, was in foreign currency.
