Turkey’s population announced as 83,614,362 as of 31.12.2020

According to figures provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK – TurkStat) based on the address based population identification system, the population of Turkey as of December 31st, 2020 was 83,614,362, an increase of 459,365 on the figure for 2019.

 

The total male population was given as 41,915,985 (50.1%) and the total female population was given as 41,698,377 (49.9%).

 

The population percentage increase for Turkey was 0.6% in 2020, compared with 1.4% in 2019. The population of Istanbul was given as 15,462,452, a percentage decrease of 0.4% in 2020, representing 18.5% of the total population. The population of those in working age in Turkey between the ages of 15 and 64 was 56.6 million, 67.7% of the total population. The average age in Turkey in 2020 was recorded as 32.7, up from 32.4 in 2019.

 

There has been a fall of 197,770 in the number of foreigners residing in Turkey to 1,333,410 as of December 31st, 2020.
