Melvin Cottrell settled in Turkey in 1977 after graduating from Manchester University in Management Sciences. He worked at Arthur Andersen (1979 – 1982 as Senior Auditor), American Express Bank (1982 – 1986, first as Accounting Manager, and later as Operations Manager), and Tekstilbank (1986 – 1991 as Assistant General Manager – Operations) before founding his own company RGS Group in 1992. 

 

RGS Group grew into one of the largest facilities services companies in Turkey, with an annual turnover of over USD 70 million and some 5,000 employees. Melvin Cottrell sold RGS Group in 2012 to Orion Holding.

 

Melvin Cottrell was the Vice Chairman at the British Chamber of Commerce in Turkey for three years from 2010 to 2013.
